From December 7th to December 8th last year, Theseus competed at the Australian National Championship, at Macquarie University in Sydney! We completed a full robot re-design within four weeks, and this deadline was quite a challenge.
Our robot could extend horizontally close to a meter, and vertically a meter in the air. Our signature feature was the passthrough deposit, which used linear rails to move the claw through the robot.
In the playoffs, our team finished 4th out of 42, winning 5 out of our 6 games! This landed us a spot in the playoffs, to compete for the win in the competition. We finished as Third Place Alliance Captain, out of 8 finalist alliances.
As Australia is quite a small region, being a semi-finalist wasn’t enough to send us through to the International level. However, we were presented with the Inspire 3 award, which is given to the team that best embodies the spirit of FIRST, and is a role model to other teams.
This was enough to send us through to the World Championships to compete against 256 of the best teams in the world! We are super excited to be going to Houston from April 16th to April 19th.
You can help us get there by donating to our GoFundMe page and read about how to help us in our blog post. We appreciate all the support we can get!
