We’re super excited to share that on the 13th of February this year, Theseus Robotics was invited to give a presentation at the Garden City Library to more than 60 adults and aspiring future engineers.
We had a great time sharing our knowledge and experience, as well as providing a perspective on the future of robotics and how it can be used to solve real-world problems. By sharing our journey to both parents and children, we hope to spark the same passion for robotics that we used to feel when we were young.
Two of our team members, Joshua and Declan, are our oldest (by age), and are currently undertaking Mechatronics degrees at the University of Queensland. They shared their experiences and how they got into the FIRST Tech Challenge from Year 8 and 9, as well as the challenges they overcame that led to the creation of Theseus Robotics.
We also had a live demonstration of Luke and Henry’s robot for the National Championships, which was a great hit with the kids. We were able to show them how the robot worked, how it was designed, and how it was built and fabricated from scratch.
During the presentation, we stressed that while FTC is a competition, outreach and giving back to the people who have allowed us to get to where we are today is just as important. As a community team, we were stretched thin in our founding days, and couldn’t afford to finance a game field. However, the Blue BotBuilders from Northgate and Brisbane Boys Grammar were kind enough to lend us their fields, which allowed us to practice and compete to our full potential.
As a result of these connections, we were lucky enough to take on two new talented members, Luke and Henry, who are now our first ever members from other schools.
